The online driver's manual course is an eight-hour course based on the Virginia Driver's Manual and is designed to better prepare individuals for the general knowledge test. The course must be completed in its entirety prior to the issuance of a certificate of completion.
The course is available to teens and adults.
The fee must be paid before you gain access to the course website.
If you are under the age of 18, you must complete the 36 50-minute course, Driver Education. If you wish to take the 8-hour Driver's Manual Course, in the classroom or online, you must provide proof of having completed the 36-period course before you are allowed to enroll in the Driver's Manual Course.
If you are age 18 and older, you can either complete the 8-hour Driver's Manual Course or the 36-period Driver Education Course.
Student Identification Verification
Student identification will be verified throughout training and prior to taking the final test to ensure that the person taking the course is the same person taking the final test.
To benefit from the re-examination online course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.
You must have attempted and failed the knowledge test three (3) times.
You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old.

The certificate of completion will be electronically transmitted to all individuals upon successful completion of the course within 24 hours.
The DMV standardized certificate, "Online Driver's Manual Course Certificate of Completion (DTS 8E)" is the only document that will be accepted by the DMV as proof of completion of an online driver's manual course.
How to Print the Certificate
The certificate of completion will be electronically transmitted (emailed) to all students within 24 hours of successful completion of the course. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your computer to view/print your completion certificate. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is FREE and can be downloaded by going to https://get.adobe.com/reader/
The certificate of completion must be printed on 8½" x 11" plain white bonded paper. DMV will not accept certificates printed on color or special designed paper or paper with any form of an advertisement on the front or back of the certificate. DMV will not accept any certificates that have been altered in any way.
If you are under the age of 18, you must email the Driver Education Course certificate to the school to confirm you qualify for the course. Once we determine you meet the DMV requirement for the course, you will be instructed to proceed with payment.
